Dr. Evelyn Supriya James is a resident of Secunderabad city of Andhra Pradesh. Her school and college education were from Secunderabad, MBBS degree from the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamilnadu and the ‘Post Graduation in Anatomy’ from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad. Right from the school days through the graduation, her aptitude to both studies and extracurricular activities distinguished her among the peers. Her academic distinctions and achievements apart, she was a keen participant in Literary activities, English dramatics, Debates etc. | |
and organized many scholastic events in the capacity of School Pupil Leader. She also was the House Captain at CMC Vellore, and earned reputation as the best outgoing Women’s hostellite. She enjoys working with young people and nurturing young talent. | |
After graduating from CMC Vellore, she worked at Christian Medical College, Dichpalli, Nizamabad (as part of her bond from CMC Vellore) in 2003-2004. She worked there as a Resident Doctor with a special focus on Obgyn and Pediatrics. During this time, she was also Tutor in Department of Physiology taking theory classes and organizing practicals for 100 Ist year MBBS students. In 2005, she joined Indo-American Cancer Institute, Hyderabad and worked as Duty Doctor. In 2006 she joined Kamineni Wockhardt Hospitals, Hyderabad and worked for one year as the Duty Medical Officer in the Emergency Department and Wards. From the year 2008 till 2009, she worked as Mission Hospital Doctor at Evangelical Hospital, Khariar, Orissa. During this period, she was the Resident Medical Officer treating all varieties of infectious diseases, gained experience in Internal Medicine and common surgical cases. In addition to conducting numerous normal and instrumental deliveries, she also performed and assisted in Ceasarean sections. She returned to Hyderabad in 2010, and joined Mediciti Hospitals, Hyderabad as Junior Resident in Nephrology, and gained technical expertise in insertion of Central Venous catheters (internal jugular and femoral), evaluation and workup in Renal transplant cases. | |
Among the jobs held, special mention is of the tenure with M.N.J. Institute of Oncology and Cancer Research, Hyderabad where she was trained and later worked as the Palliative care Physician from the year 2007 till 2008. She held the responsibility as the Trainer in the Department of Pain and Palliative Care, and organised teaching programmes for Doctors, Nurses and lay volunteers which included bed side clinics. She was also an active advocate and lectured in the subject of Palliative care- communication skills, end of life care, caring for the sick at home etc. The Department of Palliative Care at MNJ Hyderabad is a Collaborative Project between MNJ Govt. Cancer Hospital and INCTR, Brussels and while she was there, she was a valuable asset to that department. | |
Dr.Evelyn has a natural penchant for teaching. While working at the Christian Medical College, Dichpalli, Nizamabad, she performed the role of the Tutor of Physiology, and organized theory classes and the practical classes in Hematology, Human physiology, etc. In the years 2004 and 2005, she worked as Medical faculty in the Training Department of the IT firm M/s Trandyne IT Services Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad and took on training and imparting working knowledge to the Trainee Medical Transcriptionists and the Proof Readers. She can take on even a difficult medical concept, break it down to its basics and explain it in such way even lay people can understand it. | |
The best of her teaching abilities took shape in the Project of “E-Classes on Anatomy”- a subject undertaken at the behest of the educational consultancy firm M/s Medico Abroad, Hyderabad. During the period from 2007 to 2009, about 60 video lectures summing up to 50 Hrs duration and 30 GB size of E-learning material titled “Guidelines for Self Study” were meticulously made as prescribed by Medical Council of India syllabi. Dr.Evelyn was instrumental in researching and preparing the teaching material, editing of the videos and the preparation of notes, with the net result of producing the supportive study material which is getting popular with the Indian students pursuing medicine course either in India or abroad. Her zeal for teaching and the goal of the firm M/s Medico Abroad i.e., making medical education accessible to worthy students continues hand in glove. |
