EDUCATION PROCESS |
The term of study at the University is 6 years. The academic year is divided into 2 semesters: Fall semester: September - January; Spring semester: February - July. Each semester ends the session, during which students take exams in certain disciplines of the corresponding semester. |

GomGMU offers traditional forms of learning, which include lectures, seminars, laboratory and practical training. In the course of 1-3 classes are 2, 3, or 4 academic hours (45 minutes each). At the undergraduate subjects in the study of clinical training is organized in the form of cyclic classes (classes 4-6) in the clinics on 5 and 7 hours per day. |

Education each semester includes a set number of hours in disciplines relevant to the curriculum. Transfer students on the next course is subject to a mandatory surrender of all examinations and tests prescribed curriculum. The transfer of the discipline to another semester or the course is not permitted. |

A wide selection of literature in Russian and foreign languages, as well as access to electronic resources of the University and the Internet helps students master effective medical science. |

The first two years the students acquire knowledge in the basic sciences, such as anatomy, histology, biology, chemistry, physics, studying Latin and foreign languages and philosophy. For each subject, students take exams and tests in the winter and summer session. Starting with the 3 rd course, future doctors involved in the clinical bases of the University, some of them far exceed their level like in other regional centers. This is primarily a Republican Center of Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology, Gomel Clinical Cardiology Clinic, Regional Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology man Gomel Clinical Oncology Center and other. Students master the internal and surgical diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, infectious diseases, oncology, neurology, pediatrics and many other disciplines. In the summer, all the students do practical work: after 3 courses - nursing, after the 4th - polyclinic; after the 5th - medical. Thus, the summer holiday last 1-1.5 months. At the end of the course graduates pass the state exam and receive a diploma of the established sample. |

STUDY SCHEDULE |
1-2 courses of foreign students studying normal anatomy and histology, cytology and embryology, the general and bioorganic chemistry, medical biology and general genetics, normal physiology and biochemistry. Highly qualified faculty theoretical departments of the university provides teaching of basic medical disciplines at a high scientific and methodological level. Along with medical and biological subjects students study Russian and Latin. |

Students of 3-4 courses studying clinical disciplines: pathological physiology and pathological anatomy, microbiology and pharmacology, general surgery and internal medicine propaedeutics, general hygiene, and others. The students first get acquainted with clinical bases of the University, the hospitals, where the foundation is laid for their future professional activity. |

5-6 courses of foreign students studying surgical and internal medicine, pediatrics and ophthalmology, otolaryngology, infectious and tropical diseases, psychiatry and others. Each student in direct contact with patients participating in clinical rounds and consultations, diagnosis, treatment and manipulation at present operations. |

On 1- 4 courses all classes are conducted in English. At the same time, students study the Russian language and at the end of 4 and 6 th semesters pass the exam on the Russian language. Starting from the 5th year, some clinical disciplines are taught predominantly in Russian (in order to allow students to work freely with patients in clinics). The university introduced the system of counseling for all clinical disciplines in English. Starting from the 6 th year, introducing additional elective courses in English in the main specialties (surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine) to prepare students for qualifying examinations at home. |
