MUHAS has 118 programmes in biomedical, diagnostic, clinical and allied health sciences disciplines which are taught in seven schools and two institutes. Of these, 24 are undergraduate programmes while the rest are postgraduate programmes. |

| The Campus College of Medicine was established in 2022. This college was upgraded from School of Medicine which started in 1963 as Dar es Salaam Medical School which was later transformed into faculty of Medicine under University of Dar es Salaam and subsequently transformed to School of Medicine under MUHAS. This College has three schools; School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Diagnostic Medicine, and School of Clinical Medicine. The campus initially comprised of 19 academic departments, collectively offering 53 programmes, including a range of medical specialization and sub-specialization tracks in key medicine. Now, the College has expanded both in scope and capacity, and it now houses 20 academic departments offering a total of 63 programmes. | The Campus College of Medicine provides a highly dynamic environment for teaching and learning, research and service. The Campus has a research environment that enables the University to stay at the cutting edge of medical and related research. Faculty in the Campus has begun to utilize the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT) to keep pace with developments in the field and disciplines of medicine nationally and globally. Since the world is increasingly becoming more like one village, the school has realized that health is a global issue; understanding of and solutions to global concerns such as HIV/ AIDS, tuberculosis, avian flu, injecting drug use, or the ravages of war cannot be confined to one country or even one continent. Therefore, there is need to ensure that students are conversant with global perspectives of health and health care. | |
| The Faculty of Medicine was then upgraded to a constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam in 1991, with the aim of nurturing it to a full-fledged University. By an Act of Parliament MMC was disestablished in 2000 to create two closely linked but autonomous public institutions; namely MUCHS and the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH). The Parliament Act No 9 of 1991 that established MUCHS was repealed in 2005 in an effort to transform it to MUHAS. Subsequently, in 2007, MUHAS was established in line with the Universities Act No 7 of 2005. | |
