Education Base

MUHAS currently offers four diploma programmes, one advanced Diploma programme and 16 undergraduate degree programmes to over 3,600 students who get unique opportunity to study at our institution.

A total of 476 highly trained and experienced faculty in seven schools and two institutes administer the various academic programmes shown in this prospectus.

MUHAS also prides itself in thirteen (13) directorates, which carry out various functions and coordinate activities aimed at enabling MUHAS to implement its core functions of teaching, research and public service.

Campuses:
The University has three campuses; Muhimbili, Mloganzila and Kigoma Campuses.
•   Muhimbili campus is strategically located at Upanga, about one kilometer from the Dar es Salaam City Centre, the commercial capital of Tanzania. Its location offers an intellectually stimulating environment coupled with rich cultural, social, and sporting life. Furthermore, its proximity to other highly reputable public and private higher learning institutions provides multiple opportunities for peer interaction, which is both academically and socially beneficial to student’s life.
•   Mloganzila Campus occupies 3,800 acres and is located 3 km off Dar es Salaam-Morogoro highway, 25 km from Dar es Salaam City Center. This campus houses the multipurpose building for the Centre of Excellence in Cardiovascular Sciences which provides the much-needed space and facilities to support training and research in cardiovascular sciences.
•   The Kigoma campus is located in western zone of the country at Ujiji, Kigoma. It has 102.3 acres of land. The Construction of academic and support facilities including lecture theatres, cafeteria, students’ hostels, laboratories and library is ongoing in these campuses.
 
In addition to these campuses, other training and research facilities include the Bagamoyo Teaching Unit in Bagamoyo and Kihonda, 8 km from Morogoro Municipality along Morogoro-Dodoma Road. The two facilities are used for fieldwork during Community rotations and other research activities.
 
Library

The University library is a leading medical and health sciences library in the country with an extensive collection of book copies, periodicals, and repositories on a variety of health-related disciplines. The main library is solar-powered and has a 24-hour reading and discussion rooms. It also hosts the university e-learning computer lab having more than 150 computers for e-learning purposes that is supported by the MUHAS ICT network which allows users to access a variety of online reputable journals and books.
